Finally! An Etomite Developer Blog!
April 19, 2008 – 11:44 pm by Dean ClintonFinally! Ralph and I have a place where we can post about Etomite Developments.
I’ve moved the posts Ralph made from the IP.Blog on the Etomite Forums into this blog - They’ve even got the post date that they originally had.
Fingers crossed we’ll be able to keep this updated!
I’m probably going to take some flack over the use of Wordpress for the blog, but I’m a firm believer that there’s no point re-inventing the wheel; wordpress is a perfectly good piece of blogging software. Why should Ralph take time out of completing Etomite 1.0 to write something when Wordpress is freely available and ready for me to use. Etomite’s a CMS, not a blog app.
Edit: I’ve successfully imported the Blog posts (relating to Etomite) from Ralph’s Personal site.

This is cool. And I completely agree about wordpress. It is the same reason I had my doubts about eto-cart, that it could never match stuff by oscommerce et al. Wordpress is very flexible and does the ‘blog’ bit perfectly. And when you use Akismet plug in virtually all spam is eliminated.
The problem is keeping the templates unified, which is ok with two systems, but with three or four, such as a forum and a shop, it becomes a nightmare.
I look forward to reading this blog.

Hey Paul,
For carts, I use CubeCart; I’ve tried Magento but find it so difficult to set up (wasn’t it supposed to be easier than OSC?)
Regarding unifying the templates, I have a little trick that makes it easy - I may just make a blog post about how to do it!
