Etomite Prelude v1.0 Tease

April 30, 2008 – 2:19 am by Ralph Dahlgren

Yes, as Dean has stated elsewhere, Etomite Prelude v1.0 is coming… Trust me, it can’t happen soon enough… While it’s still the Prelude code base a lot has changed… Once this release is out I will be diverting virtually all development efforts to the next major release branch…

While I could list as many changes as I can remember here it’ll be better to just let people do an Easter Egg Hunt to find the changes… I honestly can’t even remember every change that has been made - there are that many… I have gone over virtually every line of code in the code base, or so it seems, and even fixed more than a few bugs that I stumbled across by accident…

Just to hint a bit, whether you do a fresh install or an upgrade you will be redirected into the Etomite configuration panel as soon as you enter the manager… Suffice it to say that some of the changes will jump right out as you verify and edit the system settings…

As an additional hint, you should almost never need to edit the parser manually…

Oh yeah, the manager has been re-skinned by Ian (Cathode)…

Hmmm…??? What else…???

Ahhh… There are now three options for new installs - Full, Lite, and Bare… Bare really is bare as it only sets up an admin user - period… I will try to get some documentation written on how to build your own custom installation file… I might as well mention it here that whether performing a new install or an upgrade you need to run the installer

Chunks now have permissions just like templates, documents, and snippets…

Everyone who has tested v1.0 seems to think it’s faster…

The default full install resources are, uh, different…

It still is not a portal…

Prelude v1.0 is stable… It is currently powering well over a dozen sites without a glitch, even Windows servers…

Upgrades take less than 5 minutes once the new code base has been uploaded… Read the README file before uploading - it’ll save time and aggravation…

If you’re not completely satisfied we’ll give you a 100% refund of the purchase price… Oh, yeah, it’s still FREE…

Enough teasing… Soon, rabbit, soon…
